Brew aficionados search no more, there's a place where beer variety is synonymous with quality-

Portland, Oregon has more microbreweries than any other city in the United States, so whether you crave a hoppy ale or a creamy porter, there’s bound to be a brew to satisfy those buds. Some would say more doesn't mean better… Then again, they probably haven’t been to Portland. The North American Beer Awards are presented each year. There are over 70 categories with Gold Silver and Bronze winners in each; In 2010 Oregon breweries won over 25 of those awards.

Winning Breweries:

  • Deschutes Brewery

  • Pelican Pub Brewery

  • Caldera Brewing Company

  • RAM/Big Horn Brewery

  • Bend Brewing Co

  • Ninkasi Brewing Company
  • Barley Brown's Brewpub

  • Widmer Brothers Brewing Co

  • Ram Restaurant & Brewery

  • Full Sail Brewing Company

The "World's Best Pale Ale"

The World Beer Awards take place annually, crowning the best beers across the globe. Judges blind-taste test hundreds of beers from over 25 countries. Five were named 2010's “Worlds Best Beer,” Only one was American.

Red Chair NW Pale Ale, brewed in Bend, Oregon won the “World's Best Pale Ale” in 2010. This beer is personally one of my favorites. It's citrus notes sing of it's light hop flavor and smooth caramel tones.

Hey Carlos. That's a good beer, but not an award winner in 2010... So no mention here. Thanks for the comment.

Thank You Poohgranma... It's an easy topic for me to write on.

Tages- I'll start by saying, Mount Hood snowboarding is amazing. Bachelor, Meadows, Ski Bowl, they're all a blast. I don't get to go enough. Good to know about Full Sail, I actually don't drink it that often. My brother and father brew beer. I'll have to let them know about that bit of info you gave me. I would say I drink Deschuttes mostly, Inversion IPA. Their Red Chair Ale (world's best beer 2010)is also one of my favorites.

Jinny- Haha that's my intent.. I talk it up :)

Full Sail is by far one of the greatest breweries in the world. I actually use them as an exemplifier to technical perfection. Their brews stand out as the absolute baseline in the grading of ales and lagers. In addition, I love Full Sail due to their almost embracement of extreme sports. For those who do not know, snowboarding “rocks” down the face of Mount Hood.
